August 5th 2007 we will be holding the first ever
Paradise
COTTAGE COMICON in the Grand Ballroom of the
Lionshead Resort and Yacht Club, located at Jackson's
Point Village, Right On The Water, on the shore of Lake
Simcoe in the Town of Georgina, Ontario.
An alternative to traditional big city comic
conventions, the Cottage Comicon will have everything
your traditional Paradise one-day comic book SuperShow
normally has - namely comic book sellers, comic book
creators and guests - but also some fun programming for
the day and, of course, the Hot Summer Lake Simcoe
Waterfront of the lakeside community of Jackson's Point
Village.

The Joe Shuster Awards.
The SHUSTER Award is named in honour of the great
artist, JOE SHUSTER (1914-1992), whose clear, dynamic
style and inventive visual flourishes set the standard
for graphic storytelling during the infancy of the North
American comic book industry. It was Superman, a
co-creation of Shuster and Siegel, that electrified the
industry in 1938 and, almost overnight, transformed
comic books into an enormous pop-cultural phenomenon.
From coast to coast, Canada is home to many of the comic
book industry's top talents. The Joe Shuster Awards are
a way of recognizing and celebrating the achievements of
Canadian creators, past, present and future and
Lionshead Lakefront Resort and Yacht Club is proud to be
part of the celebration.
The Joe Shuster Awards are presented at The 5th Annual
Paradise Toronto Comicon June 8-10, 2007, at the Direct
Energy Centre at Exhibition Place, Hall C, Toronto,
Canada and you can visit

Convention has to offer participants of all ages.
The
Cottage Comicon will be promoted at the June 2007 event,
and Lionshead Lakefront Resort and Yacht Club will be
working to create some comic workshops in the Town of
Georgina Grade Schools, and through the Exhibitors
participating in the event.
2007 will be the 5th year of the Annual Paradise Comicon
in Toronto and the 15th year of operations for Paradise
Conventions in the Toronto area (formerly known as
ParaCon and Tempest Promotions).
The Paradise Comicon is Toronto’s largest convention
that focuses only on comic books and sequential art.
Both in square footage and in attendance.
Unlike most comic book conventions we keep the majority
of the attention on comic books and graphic novels by
developing programming around comic books and graphic
novels and their creators.
Over the last four years Paradise Comicon has become the
preferred comic book convention for the Toronto comic
book creative community and fans. They have created a
friendly and relaxed atmosphere where people can enjoy
themselves, network and talk about comics. Comicon
guests are accessible for the duration of the show and
this allows fans a lot of interaction time with the
Comicon guests. There are rarely scheduled signing
times, so attendees do not have to spend their time
standing around in long line-ups. We have also been very
successful in attracting serious comic book collectors.
